russia

Only have three Questions on this one, where where and where

?

Had a bit of a look on google earth and I recon that it can only be around here:

Artic Russia

That's a few 1000 square kms - but thats got to be the only surfable coastline on the western side of Russia?

russia

Artic russia, what do you recon on the line up`s Sam, empty or what. Looks very cold.

Russia, i just think of the

Russia, i just think of the cold! even tho after he charged them sets i bet he came out all warm and toasty!

Good Find Thanks for sharing!

Cosha!

Hotsuits

Empty I recon - just big bears on the beach to keep you on your toes. As for the cold check out this www.hotsuits.com.au a heated kidney belt the you slip under your suit - be good for all you boys North of the boarder...

i would not even try! i used

i would not even try!

i used to have the same packs but for my hand!

way to easy to break them to start them off it has a little zink disk inside that when you "break" or click them it causes the chemical reaction! my guess whould be i would activate them by accident befor i even got wet lol!

but ill keep a open mind! if some one has tried them and felt different in the cold water then i might review my statement lol

but i know the many types of packs i have used dont give that much heat off even on the pakets they say 50-60 degre!?

Power suit!

Rip curl have just introduced a suit that has battery packs with heating elements over the kidney area - which I spose might be safer than chemicals. Check out this video of them testing it in the artic circle!! http://www.ripcurl.com/hbomb/ Surfings last frontier?

...It looks like Kamchatka -

...It looks like Kamchatka - large peninsula and group of islands on the East Part of Russia.

Kamchatka(from the Offshore gallery)

It is possible to see some of white water even from the satellite pictures on maps.google.com or Google Earth.
The most surfable area seems to be the eastern shore, washed by Bering sea (quite stormy one, with waves 8 - 14 meters high at the sea)) and Pacific ocean.
Water temp there is 0 +2 +10 C depending on season (quite comparable to Halifax (Canada)).
This area is known for its high tides and storms (as well as for hot springs, scenic views, wildlife, volcanoes and extreme skiing :) ). The most stormy season is November to March through all the winter.

and also very large

and also very large unexplained meteorites that devestate thousands of square miles!
Looks pretty cool, parden the pun,not quite sure which airline would fly there though?

Undercover Russian surf spy?

J69 you seem to be quite well informed on remote Russian surfing destinations! Have you been over that way or surfed at the same latitudes?

J69

Ooops! I'm disclosed :)

:) No :))) I used to live on the Russian Far East and catching some waves near Vladivostok. This is way south from Kamchatka. Pretty far from that latitudes, pretty warm in summer and autumn, but pretty rare waves though :) Once I tried to arrange travel for winter holidays to Kamchatka, but it was booked full!

If you are interested you may try Google - travel Kamchatka.
And there are non-stop flights from Moscow by Aeroflot (Sheremetyevo) and Domodedovo Airlines (Domodedovo), about 8 hours to fly. The destination airport code is PTK - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the international routes can be found on www.expedia.com

Now moved to Canada for some time, and made some research on Halifax surfing conditions... Also was surprised to find out some people are catching rare waves on a Great Lakes in cold season. But, I don't feel ready to jump into such a cold water, may be later... when I get desperate enough :)

Lake surfing

Hey seen some great pics of lake surfing even barrels, this aint the best out there but it shows they do get surf on the lakes.
